Malaysian dies in Abu Dhabi factory boiler incident

BESUT - A Malaysian working in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates lost his life in an explosion involving a boiler he was inspecting at a plastic manufacturing factory there early yesterday.
Mohd Shukri Sulaiman, 45, from Besut, Terengganu had been employed as a boilerman at Al-Borouge Pte Company Limited since 2011.
The victim's younger brother, Faizol Sulaiman, 42, said when met at their mother's house at Kampung Padang Landak here today that the family was informed of the incident by his brother's workmate who is also from Besut.
"We were informed in a phone call by Ahmad Syukkri Md Nor. He said prior to the incident he heard a loud explosion and went to the scene and discovered my brother's body which was almost totally charred next to the boiler.
Faizol said their elder brother Saria Sulaiman, 52, would leave for Abu Dhabi today as according to Ahmad Syukkri, 33, their employer was waiting for him to identify the remains.
Mohd Shukri, the sixth of 11 children left behind his wife, Azmahani Mamat, 43, and four children, three boys and a girl aged between 7 and 14 years who are presently living in Indera Mahkota, Kuantan.
Faizol said his brother had previously worked for Petronas in Kerteh, Syarikat Grace Kuantan, YTL in Paka, Malaysia Newsprint Industry, Mentakab and Electric Supply Board, Kulim before joining A-Borouge Pte Com Ltd.
She said her son returned home for a week's leave on Dec 7 and had brought her along for a holiday to Kundasang, Sabah with his wife and children. - Bernama
